Commission Opportunities 

  • Public Art Commission: Meadows Retail Car Park, Chelmsford City Council 
    Open-call for artists to develop concepts for the existing Meadows Retail car park tower in Chelmsford City Centre. This is for design only, as the work will need to be fundraised at a later date. Artist fee: £7,000. Deadline 9 April 2026.   

  • Public Art Commission: Market Square Chelmsford, Chelmsford City Council 
    Open-call for artists to develop concepts for the air space above Cornhill leading to Market Square in Chelmsford City Centre. Artist fee: £15,000. Deadline 9 April 2026.

  • Public Engagement Commission: Market Square Chelmsford, Chelmsford City Council  
    Open-call for artist to contribute to the development of a new artwork above Cornhill leading to Mark Square in Chemsford City Centre. The engagement artist will be responsible for facilitating and strengthening the research that goes into the new artwork, plus creative resourcing. Artist fee: £4,000. Deadline 9 April 2026. 

Funding or Development Opportunities 

  • A Place for Culture Fund, Brentwood Borough Council 
    Apply for grants between £1,000 to £5,000 for projects centred around creative skills, support for young people’s creative development, and the delivery of inclusive cultural activities. Deadline: 5 May 2026.  

  • Rochford Community Fund, Rochford District Council 
    Local groups and residents can now apply for the 2026 Rochford Community Fund, offering grants of £2,000 to £5,000 to support meaningful, not‑for‑profit projects that boost wellbeing across the district. Deadline: 31 July 2026.  

  • Innovation Fund, University of Essex  
    Open to UK and internationally registered organisations partnering with Essex through research, knowledge, or specialist expertise. Apply for project grants of up to £15,000.  

  • The Essex Local Nature Partnership Community Fund  
    A new funding opportunity designed to empower local communities to take action in Essex for nature. Community groups, charities and other local organisations can apply for grants of £500 to £2,000 to support nature-based projects that contribute to local nature recovery and community wellbeing. Rolling Deadline.
