Commission Opportunities 

  • Open Call: The Artist Prize, Firstsite and Zealous.  
    Submit your work for a chance to win £30,000 and a solo show at Firstsite in 2028. Deadline 7 July 2026. 

  • Open Call: Riverfly Writers in Residence, Estuary Festival & ARISE
    Estuary Festival are looking for experienced contemporary writers to take part in a unique writers-in-residence programme exploring the biodiversity of our coastal rivers. 4 writers will be commissioned to embed themselves in the ARISE Initiative Coastal Community Resilience Riverfly Monitoring Initiative across coastal locations: Minster (Kent), Mayland (Essex), Coldfair Green (Suffolk) and Ingoldisthorpe (Norfolk). Fee: £1,760 per writer (5 days total at £352/day, aligned with Artist Union England rates). Deadline: 28 July 2026

Funding or Development Opportunities 

  • Thurrock Youth Social Action Fund​, Thurrock CVS
    A place-based grants programme designed to support youth-led social action across Thurrock.​ Local organisations can apply for between £10,000-£30,000 develop projects with young people​. Expressions of interest deadline: 12 July 2026. 

  • Rochford Community Fund, Rochford District Council 
    Local groups and residents can now apply for the 2026 Rochford Community Fund, offering grants of £2,000 to £5,000 to support meaningful, not‑for‑profit projects that boost wellbeing across the district. Deadline: 31 July 2026.  

  • Innovation Fund, University of Essex  
    Open to UK and internationally registered organisations partnering with Essex through research, knowledge, or specialist expertise. Apply for project grants of up to £15,000.
